1936 Ford Four Door Convertible Sedan
The car is called “Straight Black” for obvious reasons. This gorgeous convertible was built to provide an excellent example of this very rare model car that has been updated to be reliable and fun to drive. The car was built using a new 1985 Ford engine and a C4 automatic transmission with a later model Ford rearend. The suspension has been updated with a Heidts Superride II coil over front suspension and a complete Chassis Engineering rear suspension that uses parallel leaf springs for a great ride. The car has a gray interior and is equipped with a Vintage Air combination heat and air conditioning unit that works well. The interior also enjoys a tilt steering column with the shifter on the column to provide more floor room for a third passenger in the front seat. The car is also equipped with wire wheels and one of the first sets of new molded running boards from Bob Drake. Installation of the running boards on this car was covered in a tech article that appeared in Street Rod Builder magazine in the May 2008 issue. The car has appeared in numerous ads for Bob Drake and is still used today as an available option for Drake’s gift certificates. This car is one of only 118 remaining trunk models left in the world and one of only 12 that have been converted to a street rod and is for sale for $58,500.
