1931 Ford Roadster
CALIFORNIA ROADSTER IN SANTA ROSA, CA
There is simply no substitute for cruising in an open car, especially when it is a great looking, well-built Ford Model A roadster. Here is a car built to drive; it is dependable, plenty powerful, and every mile brings a smile. This nostalgic droptop Ford is an ideal combination of the right stuff for anyone who appreciates the roots, heritage, and lifestyle of hot rodding. Celebrating its 90th year on the road this year, this is a ride that is a testament to the American automotive spirit.
This is an all steel 1931 full-fendered Ford Roadster and, of course, it has had a facelift with an iconic 1932 Ford “Deuce” grille and oversized headlights for superb night vision. With practical drivability in mind, the little hot rod is powered by a dependable and righteous 350 CID Chevy engine with under 300 hours of use. The strong small block V8 drives a GM TH350 automatic transmission. Up front, a 2 inch dropped front axle is set up with power steering and disk brakes, and aft is a Ford 8 inch rear end with street friendly gears riding on 4 bar coilover suspension. The exhaust headers feed a dual exhaust system with an assertive growl coming from Flowmaster mufflers. This is the kind of car you can drive as much as you want without any worries of being left on the side of the road.
This nostalgic looking roadster is finished in a beautiful metallic gunmetal gray and satin silver paint combination with red accent striping that really catches the eye. This cool little Ford has a swoopy look thanks to a slant back windshield, and for those sunny days when cruising is at its best the custom black Sid Chavers top on a stainless steel frame is easy to put down. The unique suicide doors have door poppers and safety locks, and the trunk lid is also electrically operated. The rear deck is finished with a custom roll pan with a hideaway retractable license plate. From the grille to the taillights, this is a roadster that stands out for its high degree of detail.
Inside, this roadster is very well optioned, too. The seats and interior upholstery details are tailored to the car, matching the outside color combination. A custom Wabbit walnut grained dashboard is packed with Classic white faced instruments, and the Model A has an Ididit tilt steering column with a banjo steering wheel, a Lokar floor shifter, and a great sounding JVC stereo sound system. Plush carpeting and tinted glass make this Ford seem decades newer than its 90 year age. The trunk is finished in carpeting and looks as nice as the rest of the car.
Built at the peak of the hot rod market, this Ford got all of the very best stuff. In the current market, only a fraction of the investment in it will be retrieved, but it will be a great buy for the person who wants a car that needs nothing, has no major flaws, and can be depended upon for many miles of carefree driving. With less than 10,000 miles on the odometer, it has only had the new rubbed off and remains in top condition. Serious buyers are urged to come to see and drive the car. It is an impressive Model A anyone would be proud to own.
