This car is a conversation ready to start, with "what is it?" Yes, it is a Nash Metropolitan and oh doggy, does it run! It started its life in the early 50’s as an original hardtop and it has been a custom since the 80’s, seeing many modifications during its time. The Met had during the 80’s & early 90”s an Austin engine from a MGB, with a Datsun carburetor, and Datsun seats, also flared out rear fenders and 14”wheels. This car was well used and not operable when purchased in 1990. And, after twelve years, many breakdowns and dollars in repairs, my brother and his car buff friend started an extreme makeover of this Nash Metropolitan in 2003. Here are the changes that were made in the 2 ½ years by Sid Rust and Will Zobbe. The sports car has a 240 hp 2 liter S 2000 Honda engine, body lengthened 10", on a full tube frame, front suspension is Ford mustang II, tubular A arms and coil over QA-1 shocks all around, Front Brakes S.S. Brake Corp. 4-piston calipers and 13" ventilated discs, 6-speed manual transmission S-2000, 89 Toyota Supra rear end with a 4:30 limited slip with coil over springs and 11"dis-brakes, it has power windows, mirrors, antenna and cruise control leather seats and interior from Go Miata, paint is Mercedes Silver, air and heat from Vintage Air, fender flairs are steel fabricated in Gasoline Alley in Indy. The rack and pinion is a Flaming River quick steer Mustang unit, the drive shaft was fabricated by Patterson of Indy.
