Description:
Jack Roush Signature Edition Backdraft Cobra with "blackout package." Painted in Lamborghini Arancio Argos orange with 'Black Magic' stripes framed by 'Sterling Silver' pin stripes, and matching orange diamond stitching throughout the leather and carbon fiber interior.
Acquired one year ago from Vanguard Motor sales. For a full video presentation, search 'Vanguard Backdraft Cobra Orange' on YouTube and scroll down until you see the orange car. This video shows it lifted, being driven, and gives an excellent description. Current price for this car at Vanguard and other Backdraft dealers looks to be around $109,000+. The car is aggressively priced compared to other Backdrafts with similar features.
I bought the car, had a few minor issues repaired (alignment, low beams and gas gauge didn't work), and put a few hundred miles on it. It drives straight and smooth with no bump steer. At 80 mph on a smooth road, the ride is smooth. Road irregularities are communicated to the driver at the proper level for this type of car. I've had Superformance Cobras, and the ride, steering, and suspension on this car compares favorably. It has 4 wheel power disc brakes, independent rear suspension, modern BMW based coilover shocks, and manual rack and pinion steering.
Unfortunately, I need garage space due to new arrivals, so I am reluctantly offering this Cobra for sale. It is extraordinary, even for a Backdraft. The Arancia Argos and blackout themes are carried throughout the car, from the black shift lever with orange shift pattern diagram on the knob, to the steering wheel, diamond stitch upholstery and carbon fiber dash, to the custom orange and black Roush air cleaner and valve covers, black powder coated accessories in the engine compartment, black roll bar, quick jack bumpers, side pipes, windshield frame, mirrors, headlight bezels, and black wheels with orange 'Roush Signature Edition' lettering. The wheels are true 'knock off spinners.' Tires are 295 40 18's in back and 245 40 18's in front, clad in Nitto high performance radials that look almost new.
The heat shields on the side pipes work great and will save you from burning your leg if you forget to step over them. (I got a 'snake bite' from an unshielded pipe 20 years ago and I had to make a trip to the emergency room, so I really appreciate how well these heat shields work).
The engine is a Roush Signature Edition 427.R with 555 HP and 520 FT LBS of torque. It always starts and never overheats, even in stop and go traffic on 95 degree days. Trans is a Tremec TKO 600 5 speed and 3.73 rear. The overdrive really drops the RPM at highway speeds and becomes useable above 60 mph. Drive Train installation was done by the Cobra specialists at Speed Fanatix. The car comes with the full convertible top, tonneau cover, car cover, and 2 sets of keys. Seatbelts are 4 point cam lock harnesses. It is titled as a "1965 Cobra." It was built in 2016 and has travelled a little over 400 miles a year on average, just enough to keep the seals fresh and everything working smoothly.
This Cobra is super clean. All systems and accessories are working properly. It sounds amazing, is insanely fast, rides and drives great, and attracts a ton of attention. It is one of the most distinctive and beautiful Cobras I have ever seen.
